Connecting to docks and TVs

If you have a newer silver Dell laptop ( Latitude models 5431 or 5520 ), you will be able to use any of the Dell docks in the building to display your screen on multiple monitors or TVs. The Dell docks look like this:

These will plug in to the Thunderbolt ports on the left hand side of your laptops. The ports look like this:

Once connected to one of those ports, your screen should automatically be cast to whatever display is connected to it.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

If the device is not displaying on the screen here are some steps you can take to solve the issue:

1: Make sure the dock is plugged in to power. The docks have their own power cord that has a barrel plug to the dock itself, to a power brick, which then has a three pronged plug that goes to the wall.

2: Make sure the displayport or HDMI cable is plugged in securely to both the display and the dock, and the USB-C cable is plugged in to your laptop.

3: If both of the above is correct, make sure that both your laptop and display are turned on and not asleep.

4: Restart the dock by unplugging it from your laptop, unplugging the barrel plug for power on the back, and hold the small power button on the top of the dock for five seconds. Plug the device back in to power, and connect it to your laptop.
